South Indian Wedding: A Glimpse

Shooting an Indian Hindu wedding is a challenge. There's always a crowd. Things happen really fast. The lighting isn't always ideal. And sometimes the 'mahurat' is at the crack of dawn and you've got to be there even if the reception the last night lasted till 1am, and then you had to go back to your room and backup all your images, charge all your batteries and make sure everything's ready for the morning.

Yeah, it's not a cakewalk.

But the people, the hospitality of the families who treat you nothing less than any of their important guests, the food, the excitement, the happy faces, the splash of colour and the amazing details in every ritual more than makes up for the challenges.

At the end of the day, you come away having learnt a million lessons in Photography and blessed by the people.

And the people? That's what it's all about, really.

And challenges in Photography? Bring.it.on!

Here is a collection of images from a South Indian Hindu Wedding I shot not too long ago.

Many thanks to Charles Brian for second-shooting with me.
